I followed a very Click Here!specific training regimen when I brought home my long-haired chihuahua, Puppy. Yes, her name is Puppy!

Read this article to find out how I learned to stop puppy peeing in my home in a week's time. In just a few minutes, you will understand what YOU need to do to stop puppy peeing.

Let's start by looking at what makes your dog pee in your home. The dog is marking its territory instinctively. You see, dogs have an advanced sense of smell. Dogs mark territory to tell other dogs that "This is mine, stay away or else!" Male dogs are more likely to engage in this behavior, and particular breeds are also more likely to do this.

What not to do?

Punishing the dog and getting very angry are the usual reactions that an owner has. If you really want to stop puppy peeing then you must learn to control yourself.

But the problem is that this just doesn't work, and it's also unfair - because your dog doesn't understand why you are punishing him. Unless you can actually catch him "in the act", you will only confuse him.

Using positive reinforcement is the only way to change this unpleasant, and smelly, behavior. In order to stop puppy peeing, you must learn puppy psychology!

How you can over come this problem? You must start crate training the puppy immediately. My puppy was crated the day she joined my family, and learned how to pee when I wanted her to within a week or so, at only 3 months of age.It may appear to be cruel like a prison to you, but it is not.Puppies find that crates provide a "safe" place to enjoy, one that belongs to them. It will comfort them, and is not restrictive at all. The main reason for crating is that dogs do not like peeing in their own bed.

Creating a noisy distraction before the puppy pees will cause him to stop. Then you have a chance to take him outside to take care of his business.Simply make a loud shaker. Put a few coins into an empty water bottle, and shake it quickly to make a loud sound. This will alert your dog, and give you time to take him outside to pee.
